Day 4 of 5: Place Your Life on the Altar

🙌 Real freedom is not found in holding tightly to our own plans. It is found in surrendering ourselves completely to God.

🕊️ Day 4 of 5: Out of the Cage — A Faith That Soars

đź“– Scripture

Romans 12:1 (KJV)

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

🪞 Reflection

We often think surrender will restrict us.

We fear that if we give God complete control, we will lose something important. We hold tightly to our plans, preferences, relationships and timelines because they give us a sense of security.

But what if our refusal to surrender is the very cage keeping us from freedom?

Romans 12:1 calls believers to become a living sacrifice. In the Old Testament, a sacrifice was placed completely upon the altar. It was not partially offered and partially withheld.

In the same way, God desires more than a small portion of our lives. He wants our whole hearts.

A living sacrifice says:

🙌 “God, my plans belong to You.”

🧭 “My future belongs to You.”

❤️ “My relationships belong to You.”

🗣️ “My words, choices and influence belong to You.”

Surrender is not a one-time emotional moment. Because we are living sacrifices, we must repeatedly choose to remain on the altar.

When our preferences compete with God’s Word, we surrender again. When fear tells us to retreat, we surrender again. When comfort tempts us to remain inside the cage, we surrender again.

God is not asking for your life so He can diminish it. He is asking for your life so He can transform it.

The safest place you can be is not inside a cage you control. It is in the center of God’s will.

Ask yourself:

🙌 What part of my life have I been reluctant to surrender?

🪞 Do I trust God only when His plans match mine?

🔥 What needs to be placed on the altar today?

🚪 Is a lack of surrender keeping me from my next step?

You do not need to understand every detail before you obey. You only need to trust the character of the One leading you.

đź’ˇ Surrender does not imprison us; surrender breaks the power of everything that has kept us from following God.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Norman directed the church to Romans 12:1 and the call to become a living sacrifice. Moving beyond a tame, comfortable faith requires complete surrender. We cannot experience the fullness of God’s purpose while insisting on maintaining control of every part of our lives.

🙏 Prayer

Father, I place my life before You.

I surrender my plans, preferences, relationships and future. Forgive me for the places where I have tried to remain in control.

Teach me to trust Your wisdom and follow Your direction. Let my life become a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to You.

Amen.

✍️ Today’s Action

Spend several quiet minutes with God.

Open your hands as a physical expression of surrender and complete these statements:

The area I have been trying to control is:

The fear beneath my resistance is:

Today, I surrender this to God by:
