Day 3 of 5: Trust the One Who Covers You

Oct 3
2 min read

🚪 Jesus welcomes us into His care. Our security rests in the Savior who knows us, saves us and leads us.

🛡️ Day 3 of 5: The Power of the Armor — The Shield of Faith

đź“– Scripture

John 10:9 (NIV)

“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.”

🪞 Reflection

When we feel vulnerable, we often try to build our own protection.

We may withdraw from people, keep every concern hidden or try to control our surroundings.

Those responses can feel safe for a moment, but they cannot give us the security our hearts need.

Jesus invites us to trust Him.

In John 10, He describes Himself as the gate for the sheep. Through Him, we receive salvation and enter the care of the Shepherd who knows His people.

The sermon connected this picture to the shield of faith. A shield provides protection, and faith directs our trust toward the One who is able to care for us.

Jesus is worthy of that trust. He gave His life for us and rose again. We can bring Him our fears because His love has already been demonstrated at the cross.

His care does not mean we will never experience hardship. It means we can depend on Him within it. We do not have to carry every burden alone or understand every circumstance before turning to Him.

His care also reaches us through the church community.

Pastor Sonny described soldiers bringing their shields together as an illustration of believers standing alongside one another. We need people who will pray with us, speak truth with love and help us remain faithful when we feel tired.

Receiving that support is one way we practice trust. We acknowledge our need and allow others to encourage us in Christ.

Ask yourself:

🚪 Where have I been seeking security apart from Jesus?

🛡️ What burden do I need to bring into His care?

🤝 Have I isolated myself when I need prayer and encouragement?

🙏 Who can I stand beside in faith this week?

Let the Shepherd care for you. Stay close to Him and to the people He has given you for encouragement.

đź’ˇ Our confidence rests in Jesus, and we can help one another remain faithful to Him.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Sonny connected the image of the shield with Jesus’ teaching that He is the door, or gate. He also used the picture of soldiers standing together behind their shields to encourage the church to support one another in faith.

🙏 Prayer

Jesus, thank You for welcoming me into Your care.

Help me stop trying to carry every burden by myself. Teach me to recognize Your voice and follow where You lead.

Give me humility to receive support and love to encourage others. Help our church stand together in faith, prayer and obedience.

Amen.
