🪞 Reflection

What do you reach for first when life becomes uncertain?

Sometimes we reach for our phones, searching for answers. Sometimes we reach for control, trying to make everything happen on our own. Sometimes we rehearse every possible outcome until worry fills our minds.

God invites us to reach for something else: the shield of faith.

In Ephesians 6:16, Paul tells believers to take up that shield. It is an invitation to actively trust God in the middle of real pressures. Knowing about faith and choosing to exercise it are different things.

Our faith has a specific foundation: Jesus. We trust His character, His promises and the salvation He has provided. He remains faithful when our emotions change and when the answer is not yet visible.

Living by faith does not require us to pretend that problems do not exist. We can acknowledge the difficulty, seek wise counsel and take practical steps while placing our confidence in the Lord.

You may feel afraid and still choose to pray. You may feel uncertain and still obey what God has clearly said. You may be waiting and still believe that He has not abandoned you.

Taking up your shield begins with an honest decision: “Jesus, I am trusting You with this.”

Make that decision again when anxiety returns. Bring your attention back to His Word when your thoughts wander. Let trust in Him shape your next response.

Ask yourself:

🛡️ Where am I relying more on what I can see than on what God has said?

🪞 What feeling has been directing my decisions lately?

📖 What biblical truth can help me respond with faith today?

🙏 What do I need to place in Jesus’ hands?

You do not need to see the entire road to follow the One who leads you. Take up your shield and trust Him with the next step.

💡 Faith becomes part of our daily life as we choose to trust Jesus and act on His Word.

Pastor Sonny emphasized that we need faith in Jesus and must consciously choose to take it up each day. His call to “take up your faith” invites us to place our confidence in God rather than allowing our feelings to determine our obedience.

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for being faithful when I cannot see what comes next.

Help me recognize where fear or the desire for control has been directing my choices. Teach me to trust Your Word and bring my concerns to You honestly.

Jesus, help me take up the shield of faith today. Guide my thoughts, my words and my next step.
