Day 3 of 5: Stop Forcing What Does Not Fit
👟 When we force our lives into something God never designed for us, the result is pain—not purpose.
🕊️ Day 3 of 5: The Power of the Armor — Fitted and Ready
đź“– Scripture
Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
🪞 Reflection
An ill-fitting shoe affects more than the foot.
It changes the way you stand. It alters the way you walk. Over time, it can create pain, limit movement and cause damage in other parts of the body.
Pastor Sonny shared the story of his mother discovering that she had worn the wrong shoe size for years. She believed the shoes fit because they were the size she had always purchased. She had learned to tolerate the discomfort—until a doctor identified the problem.
We can do the same thing spiritually.
We force relationships that God has not approved. We remain in environments that continually pull us away from Him. We cling to habits that belong to an old season. We try to make our plans fit God’s will instead of surrendering our plans and allowing Him to direct our paths.
Then we wonder why everything hurts.
If something is continually damaging your walk with God, it is worth asking whether it belongs in His plan for you.
This does not mean every difficult situation is outside God’s will. Obedience can be uncomfortable, and growth often stretches us. The question is not simply, “Is this hard?” The better questions are:
“Is this aligned with God’s Word?”
“Is this drawing me closer to Jesus?”
“Is this producing godly fruit?”
“Have I asked God to direct me, or am I forcing my preferred outcome?”
God knows your correct fit. He knows which relationships will strengthen your calling, which opportunities will serve His purpose and which habits must be left behind.
When Pastor Sonny’s mother began wearing the proper size, she discovered that the right resources had been available all along. In the same way, we often see God’s provision more clearly after we release what we were forcing.
Ask yourself:
👟 What am I trying to force into God’s plan?
🪞 Have I mistaken long-term discomfort for something I simply have to tolerate?
🧠Does this decision align with Scripture and produce godly fruit?
🙌 What might become available if I trusted God enough to let go?
Allow God to measure your life by His Word. His fit will protect your walk and prepare you to move forward.
đź’ˇ When God fits your life, you no longer have to force what does not belong.
🎙️ From the Sermon
Pastor Sonny explained that improperly fitted shoes can cause lasting pain. Spiritually, we experience similar pain when we force the wrong habits, relationships, expectations or opportunities into God’s plan. Once we allow God to fit us correctly, we often discover that His provision was waiting for our step of faith.
🙏 Prayer
Father, I surrender every plan, relationship and expectation to You.
Show me anything I have been forcing that does not align with Your Word. Give me wisdom to recognize the difference between the stretching of healthy growth and the pain of disobedience.
Direct my paths, order my steps and fit my life according to Your purpose. Help me trust that Your provision is better than anything I could force for myself.
Amen.
