Day 2 of 5: Recognize the Cage

🔓 Not every cage has visible bars. Fear, comfort, disappointment and old patterns can quietly keep us from the freedom Jesus provides.

🕊️ Day 2 of 5: Out of the Cage — A Faith That Soars

📖 Scripture

Galatians 5:1 (KJV)

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

🪞 Reflection

A cage is designed to restrict movement.

It tells a bird how far it can go, how high it can rise and how much freedom it is allowed to experience. Even when the door is opened, a bird that has lived inside the cage for too long may hesitate to leave.

The barrier is no longer only around it. The barrier has moved inside it.

Many believers experience the same struggle.

Jesus has opened the door, but fear tells us to remain where life feels predictable. Past disappointment tells us not to hope again. Shame tells us that we are unqualified. Other people’s expectations tell us who we are allowed to become.

Eventually, limitations that Jesus never placed upon us begin to feel permanent.

But Christ did not set us free so we could continue living as prisoners.

The enemy wants to convince you that your history determines your future. Jesus reminds you that you are a new creation. The enemy points to your weakness. Jesus offers His strength. The enemy tells you to remain small and silent. Jesus calls you to follow Him beyond the boundaries of fear.

Leaving the cage does not mean you will never feel afraid. It means fear no longer makes your decisions.

Freedom requires faith. You must believe that the One calling you out is greater than everything trying to hold you in.

Ask yourself:

🔒 What has been limiting my obedience to God?

😟 Have fear or disappointment caused me to stop believing?

🪞 Am I living according to my past or according to God’s promises?

🚪 Has Jesus opened a door that I have been afraid to walk through?

The open door is an invitation. You do not have to remain confined by what once controlled you.

Jesus has already made freedom available. Your next step is to trust Him enough to move.

💡 You cannot experience the freedom outside the cage while continuing to cling to the security inside it.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Norman asked a direct question: Are you in the cage or out? His message reminds us that believers can become so accustomed to limitations that captivity begins to feel comfortable. Jesus calls us beyond complacency and into a life of active, courageous faith.

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for the freedom I have through Jesus.

Reveal every invisible cage in my life. Show me where fear, shame, disappointment or comfort has limited my obedience.

Give me the courage to walk through the doors You open. Teach me to trust Your voice more than my fear and Your promises more than my past.

Amen.
