Day 1 of 5: Refuse Lukewarm Faith

Sep 21
2 min read

🔥 Jesus did not call us to a comfortable, halfhearted faith. He calls us to live fully surrendered and spiritually alive.

🕊️ Day 1 of 5: Out of the Cage — A Faith That Soars

đź“– Scripture

Revelation 3:15–16 (KJV)

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

“So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.”

🪞 Reflection

A cage can be uncomfortable, but it can also become familiar.

After enough time, its boundaries begin to feel normal. The bird stops testing the door, forgets the strength of its wings and settles for a life that is safe—but far beneath what it was created to experience.

Our faith can become trapped in the same way.

We can attend church, know the right words and maintain a Christian appearance while losing our spiritual passion. We are not walking away from God, but we are no longer pursuing Him with our whole hearts.

Jesus calls this condition lukewarm.

Lukewarm faith is satisfied with knowing about God without drawing near to Him. It wants the security of salvation without the surrender of discipleship. It chooses comfort over obedience and routine over spiritual growth.

God has more for us than a faith that simply goes through the motions.

He invites us to know Him personally, trust Him completely and follow Him courageously. He wants to awaken the gifts, dreams and assignments that complacency has placed inside a cage.

The first step toward freedom is recognizing where we have settled.

Ask yourself:

🔥 Has my relationship with God become routine?

🪞 Am I pursuing Jesus or simply maintaining an appearance?

🚪 Have comfort and familiarity kept me from obeying God?

🙏 What spiritual passion do I need God to rekindle?

Jesus is not condemning you for recognizing an area of lukewarmness. He is inviting you to open the door and return to a living, active relationship with Him.

You were not created merely to survive inside the boundaries of comfortable Christianity. You were created to know God, walk by faith and experience the transforming power of His presence.

đź’ˇ Freedom begins when we stop settling for a faith that is merely familiar.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Norman Chandler challenged believers to consider whether their faith has become tame, comfortable or lukewarm. God has called us to more than religious routine. He has called us into a passionate relationship that transforms the way we think, live and respond to Him.

🙏 Prayer

Father, forgive me for the places where I have become spiritually comfortable or complacent.

Rekindle my passion for You. Awaken my hunger for Your Word, renew my desire to pray and give me the courage to obey You.

Show me any cage I have accepted as normal. Help me step away from lukewarm living and pursue You with my whole heart.

Amen.
