🪖 Growing in your knowledge of Jesus prepares you to recognize truth and put it into practice when challenges come.

🪖 Day 3 of 5: The Power of the Armor — The Helmet of Salvation

📖 Scripture

“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

🪞 Reflection

When you open your Bible, what are you hoping will happen?

Some days, we read because we want comfort. Other days, we read because we know we should. We may finish a passage, close the Bible and move into the day without considering how its truth should shape our lives.

Pastor Sonny drew a distinction between receiving information and being equipped. A soldier needs to be ready to use what has been taught. In the same way, learning Scripture prepares us to respond when temptation, confusion or pressure comes.

Growing in the knowledge of Jesus takes attention and practice. We learn who He is, what He has done and how He calls us to live. Over time, those truths give us a clearer understanding of what is faithful and what leads us away from Him.

You do not have to understand every passage immediately. Begin with a manageable portion. Read it slowly, notice its context and ask what it teaches about God. Write down what you do not understand and bring your questions to a trusted teacher or pastor.

Then consider how to respond. A passage about forgiveness may lead you to release resentment. A teaching about honesty may require you to correct something you said. A reminder of God’s care may help you approach a difficult task prayerfully.

Memorizing a short passage can help you remember truth throughout the day. You can return to it while driving, waiting or preparing for a challenging conversation.

Ask God to deepen your desire for His Word. Give that desire room to grow through a regular time of reading, reflection and obedience. Each day offers another opportunity to know Jesus more deeply.

Ask yourself:

🪖 Am I making time to understand Scripture or simply trying to finish reading?

🪞 What have I recently learned about Jesus that I need to put into practice?

📖 What question about the Bible could I bring to a trusted teacher?

🙏 Which short passage could I begin memorizing this week?

Open God’s Word with a willingness to learn and respond. Let what you discover about Jesus shape the way you live today.

💡 Scripture equips us as we learn its meaning, remember its truth and practice what it teaches.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Sonny explained that Paul’s teaching about the armor was intended to equip believers for spiritual battle. He encouraged the church to study and remember Scripture, grow in the knowledge of Jesus and ask God for a deeper hunger for righteousness.

🙏 Prayer

Father, give me a growing hunger for Your Word.

Help me make time to read carefully and understand what You have revealed. Give me humility to ask questions and receive sound teaching.

Jesus, help me remember what I learn and put it into practice. Prepare me to respond faithfully to the challenges of this day.

Amen.
