🌍 Your willingness to give can help support the people carrying the gospel and serving communities in need.

🌍 Day 5 of 5: Missions Sunday — Take Your Part in the Mission

đź“– Scripture

2 Corinthians 8:1 (NIV)

“And now, brothers and sisters, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches.”

🪞 Reflection

What part can you take in supporting the work of the gospel?

When we think of missions, we often picture someone boarding a plane, learning a language or preaching in an unfamiliar place. Those callings require people who are willing to go. They also involve a wider community willing to pray, give and help sustain the work.

In 2 Corinthians 8, Paul points to the grace God has given entire churches. Their response becomes a shared act of care for believers beyond their own communities. They take an active part in meeting a need they cannot ignore simply because it is far away.

Pastor Sonny brought that invitation close to home. He spoke about Cailey’s work in Thailand and Teen Challenge’s efforts to help people and families facing life-controlling problems. These examples connected missions giving to real people and ongoing ministry.

He also reminded the church that supporting ministry is itself meaningful participation. You do not need a ministry title before you can help advance the work of the gospel.

Over these five days, we have considered surrender, trust, privilege and growth. Today is an opportunity to put those reflections into practice.

Ask God to help you respond thoughtfully to the sermon’s closing question: What do I want to give to support missions for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ?

Give that question some time. Learn about the need. Consider the resources and responsibilities God has entrusted to you. Ask Him to shape your desires, and choose a response you can carry out willingly.

A one-time gift can meet a present need. Consistent support can help a ministry plan and continue serving. Prayer keeps you attentive to the people involved and reminds you that the work depends on God.

Take the next step that is yours to take. Let the grace you have received move you toward practical participation in the mission before you.

Ask yourself:

🌍 Which missionary or ministry will I intentionally support in prayer?

🪞 What has God shown me about my willingness to participate this week?

📖 How does the Macedonian churches’ example challenge my view of missions?

🙏 What specific response will I make to support the work of the gospel?

Bring your decision to the Lord, then follow through. Your participation can encourage people who are faithfully serving others in Jesus’ name.

đź’ˇ Missions becomes personal as we learn the needs, pray for the people involved and take practical steps to support the work.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Sonny connected the ministry of giving to missions, including Cailey’s work in Thailand and the ministry of Teen Challenge. He closed by asking the church to consider what they wanted to give to support missions for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for the people who shared the gospel with me and for those serving others today.

Strengthen missionaries and ministry workers. Give them wisdom, endurance and opportunities to share the love of Jesus.

Show me how to participate faithfully. Help me move from good intentions to a willing response, and teach me to remain prayerful and engaged.

Amen.
