🌍 Giving invites you to share in God’s work and care for people whose needs may be far beyond your daily view.

🌍 Day 3 of 5: Missions Sunday — Recognize the Privilege of Giving

đź“– Scripture

2 Corinthians 8:4 (NIV)

“they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the Lord’s people.”

🪞 Reflection

How would your attitude change if you saw giving as a privilege?

Another offering. Another need. Another invitation to help.

When requests become familiar, it can be easy to hear them as interruptions. We may focus on what giving will cost us and lose sight of the people who will receive care through our participation.

The Macedonian believers saw something worth joining. They pleaded for the privilege of sharing in service to the Lord’s people. Paul was gathering help for believers in Jerusalem, and these churches wanted to participate.

They recognized a connection between their resources and someone else’s need.

Pastor Sonny invited the church to make a similar shift: we get to give. God allows ordinary people to participate in advancing His kingdom through the resources He has entrusted to them.

Consider what a missions offering represents. It may help a missionary continue serving, support the sharing of the gospel or help a ministry care for a family in crisis. Behind the opportunity to give are people with names, stories and needs.

You may never travel to the place your gift reaches. You may never hear every story connected to it. Yet your participation can provide practical support for those doing that work.

A cheerful heart grows as we pay attention to this privilege. We begin asking thoughtful questions: Who is being served? What does the ministry need? How can I take part faithfully?

Today, ask God to help you see beyond the moment when money leaves your hands. Consider the person who may receive help and the worker who may be encouraged to continue.

Let gratitude for what God has done for you deepen your willingness to participate in what He is doing for others.

Ask yourself:

🌍 What is my first reaction when I hear an invitation to give?

🪞 Have I taken time to learn about the people our missions partners serve?

đź“– Why did the Macedonians describe their participation as a privilege?

🙏 How can gratitude change the way I respond to a ministry need?

Ask the Lord to renew your perspective. A willing gift can become part of a much larger work of love and service.

đź’ˇ Seeing the people and purpose behind a ministry need helps us give with gratitude and joy.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Sonny emphasized the privilege of partnering with God through giving. He encouraged the church to consider how their resources could support the work of the gospel and serve a purpose with eternal significance.

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for inviting me to participate in Your work.

Forgive me for the times I have overlooked the people behind a need. Help me see those being served and appreciate the opportunity to care for them.

Replace reluctance with a willing heart. Teach me to give thoughtfully, gratefully and with joy.

Amen.
