🕊️ Day 4 of 5: Fix Your Eyes

👀 Choose Your Focus

What fills your vision will shape your endurance.

📖 Scripture

Hebrews 12:1–2 (NLT)“Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus…”

🪞 Reflection

On a treadmill, a quick turn to look sideways can pull the whole body off course. The feet may still be moving forward, but the eyes lead the body toward distraction. The same thing happens in the life of faith.

Hebrews does not tell us to run somebody else’s race. It calls us to run the race God has set before us, laying aside the weights and sins that trip us and fixing our eyes on Jesus—the One who begins and perfects our faith.

When endurance becomes difficult, “I” problems often dominate our vision:

😠 “I don’t think this is fair.”

💔 “I always get the short end of the stick.”

🧱 “I am offended.”

👥 “I want what they have.”

Those feelings may be real, but they become dangerous when they block our view of the great I AM. Comparison magnifies another person’s lane. Offense magnifies the wound. Self-pity magnifies the delay. Faith magnifies the character of Jesus.

🔎 The thing you focus on becomes clearer. If you focus on the wrong thing, you will lose endurance.

Fixing your eyes on Jesus is not ignoring reality. It is interpreting reality through who He is. When He fills your vision, you remember:

🛡️ He is able.

🤍 He is faithful.

🔥 He is with you in the fire.

🏁 He endured the cross and finished His race.

✨ He is perfecting the faith He began in you.

Ask yourself:

🎯 What has captured most of my attention this week?

⚓ Is that focus strengthening or draining my endurance?

🧳 What weight do I need to lay aside?

✝️ What truth about Jesus needs to become clearer than my circumstance?

You do not need to see the entire course today. You need to see Jesus clearly enough to take the next step. Let your eyes lead your heart back into alignment.

🎙️ From the Sermon

“Our ‘I’ problems get in the way of seeing the I AM in the midst of it all.”

🙏 Prayer

Jesus, turn my attention back to You. Help me lay aside every weight, comparison, offense, and fear that pulls me off course. Be clearer to me than the trouble around me. Teach me to run my race with faith-filled sight. Amen.

✍️ Today’s Action

Choose one visual reminder—a note on your mirror, phone lock screen, or desk—that says, “Fix your eyes on Jesus.” Each time you see it, name one thing that is true about Him.

What has distracted me:

What I will lay aside:

What is true about Jesus:
