🕊️ Day 2 of 5: There Is Power in the Vine — Remain Through the Pruning

📖 Scripture

John 15:2

“Every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”

🪞 Reflection

Pruning can feel like losing.

Something familiar is removed. A door closes. A relationship changes. A plan no longer works. A comfortable season comes to an end.

Our first question is often, “God, what did I do wrong?”

But Jesus teaches that the Father prunes branches that are already bearing fruit. Pruning is not always a sign of failure. Sometimes it is evidence that God sees even more fruit ahead.

The sermon draws an important distinction: being cut off is connected to refusing the life of the vine, while being pruned is the careful work of the Gardener in a branch that remains.

Pruning may be uncomfortable, but it is purposeful.

The Gardener knows what He is shaping.

He may remove something that has become too important to us. He may expose a place where our identity has quietly shifted from Jesus to a person, position, possession, or dream.

He may ask us to surrender what is good so that we can receive what is fruitful.

🌿 The question in pruning is not simply, “What am I losing?” It is, “Will I remain?”

A branch cannot understand every cut, but it can stay connected to the vine. In the same way, you may not understand everything God is allowing, but you can continue praying, worshiping, reading His Word, obeying, serving, and trusting.

Do not run from Jesus because the season hurts. Draw closer.

Ask yourself:

✂️ What might God be pruning in this season?

🪞 Has this change exposed something I depended on more than Jesus?

🏃 Am I tempted to pull away because I do not understand?

🍇 What new fruit might God be preparing to grow in me?

Pruning does not mean the Gardener has abandoned you. His hands are close because His purpose is active.

💡 If God is pruning you, remain close enough to let Him produce the fruit He sees in you.

Father, You are the Gardener, and You know what will make my life fruitful.

Help me trust You when I do not understand what You are removing or changing. Expose anything that has taken Your place in my heart, and give me courage to surrender it.

Keep me connected to Jesus through every uncomfortable season. Produce in me the fruit that brings You glory.
