Day 4 of 5: Hunger for Righteousness
🌿 Righteous living grows from a heart that continually hungers for more of God.
🕊️ Day 4 of 5: The Power of the Armor — The Breastplate of Righteousness
đź“– Scripture
Matthew 5:6 (KJV)
“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
🪞 Reflection
Righteousness is where our relationship with God begins, but it is not where our growth ends.
We receive righteousness through Jesus, and then we learn to live righteously through daily surrender to Him.
This is the difference between our position and our practice.
Our position is who we are because of Christ.
Our practice is how we live because we belong to Christ.
The two should not remain disconnected.
We cannot say that Jesus has transformed our identity while continually refusing to let Him transform our behavior. Grace is not permission to remain spiritually unchanged. Grace gives us the power to become more like Jesus.
That transformation grows through daily intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
Pastor Sonny explained that we need an uninterrupted and intentional daily experience with God. Time with Him reminds us who we are, strengthens our spiritual armor and prepares us for the attacks we may face.
Daily experience requires more than occasionally thinking about God.
đź“– We open His Word.
🙏 We listen in prayer.
🪞 We allow Him to correct us.
🚶 We obey what He tells us to do.
❤️ We pursue His presence even when we do not feel like it.
Spiritual intimacy gives birth to spiritual purpose. We cannot expect to recognize God’s direction while continually neglecting His presence.
A one-sided relationship is not a healthy relationship. If we only approach God when we need an answer, relief or blessing, we miss the joy of knowing Him.
The goal is not simply to receive something from God. The goal is to become the person He created us to be.
Ask yourself:
🌿 Do I genuinely hunger for righteousness?
đź“… Is my time with God intentional or occasional?
🪞 Am I willing to receive correction as well as encouragement?
🚶 What has God already told me to do that I have delayed obeying?
The more you hunger for God, the less satisfied you will become with anything that pulls you away from Him.
đź’ˇ A daily experience with God strengthens your identity, protects your heart and prepares you to live your purpose.
🎙️ From the Sermon
Pastor Sonny taught that believers need intentional, uninterrupted time with God to know and reaffirm their identity. Righteous living begins with Christ’s righteousness and grows through an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit.
🙏 Prayer
Father, increase my hunger and thirst for righteousness.
Forgive me for the times I have treated my relationship with You casually. Help me pursue You consistently—not only when I need something, but because I desire to know You.
Speak through Your Word, correct what needs to change and give me the courage to obey. Let my daily life reflect the righteousness I have received through Jesus.
Amen.
