🛡️ People are not the enemy—our battle must be fought with spiritual awareness and spiritual weapons.

🕊️ Day 3 of 5: The Power of the Armor — Fight the Right Enemy

đź“– Scripture

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

🪞 Reflection

The enemy gains an advantage when he convinces us to fight the wrong opponent.

It is easy to direct our anger toward the person we can see:

👥 A family member who disappointed us.

đź’Ľ A coworker who created conflict.

🏡 A neighbor who frustrated us.

⛪ A leader who corrected us.

đź’” Someone whose choices caused us pain.

But Paul reminds us that our deepest struggle is not against flesh and blood. Spiritual warfare cannot be won through natural hostility.

In the sermon, Pastor Sonny challenged the church to stop creating enemies in the flesh when Scripture identifies the true enemy. Satan desires to divide relationships, distort truth, stir offense, and keep believers distracted by visible conflict. If he can persuade us to attack one another, we may never address what is happening spiritually.

This does not mean that people never make harmful choices or that healthy boundaries are unnecessary. It means we must see beyond the person and respond under the direction of the Holy Spirit.

When we identify a person as the enemy, we may use anger, accusation, retaliation, gossip, or control. But when we recognize the spiritual battle, we respond with truth, prayer, forgiveness, wisdom, faith, and obedience.

The weapons change when we correctly identify the battle.

Perhaps the real battle is not with your family member but against division.

Perhaps the real battle is not with your circumstances but against fear.

Perhaps the real battle is not with your past but against shame.

Perhaps the real battle is not with your body but against hopelessness.

Perhaps the real battle is not with correction but against pride.

Spiritual awareness helps us stop fighting people and begin praying for them. It enables us to protect unity without ignoring truth. It allows us to speak honestly without becoming destructive.

Ask yourself:

🪞 Have I treated someone as the enemy?

🔥 What spiritual influence may be operating beneath this conflict?

🙏 Have I prayed as much as I have complained?

🕊️ What would a Spirit-led response look like today?

Before you send the message, replay the argument, or defend yourself again, pause and ask God to reveal the true nature of the battle. Do not waste spiritual energy fighting flesh and blood.

Turn your attention toward the real enemy and stand in the authority, truth, and love of Jesus.

đź’ˇ When you recognize the true battle, you can choose the right weapons.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Sonny reminded us that we already have enough enemies in the spiritual realm; we do not need to create additional enemies among the people around us. Satan is the enemy, and our attention must be directed toward resisting his schemes.

🙏 Prayer

Holy Spirit, give me discernment to recognize the true battle.

Forgive me for the times I have treated people as enemies or responded in anger, pride, and fear. Help me separate the person from the spiritual attack and teach me to fight through prayer, truth, forgiveness, and obedience.

Protect my relationships from division. Make me a person who carries both truth and grace.

Amen.

✍️ Today’s Action

Think of one relationship currently experiencing tension. Do not begin by listing what the other person has done. Instead, identify the spiritual issues that may be working beneath the conflict.

The person I need to stop treating as an enemy:

The spiritual battle I need to address in prayer:

One Christlike action I will take today:
