Day 2 of 5: Stop Thinking Like a Sinner

🧠 When you understand your identity in Christ, you no longer have to live as a prisoner to your old nature.

🕊️ Day 2 of 5: The Power of the Armor — The Breastplate of Righteousness

đź“– Scripture

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV)

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

🪞 Reflection

The way we think about ourselves influences the way we live.

If you continually see yourself as defeated, you will approach temptation as if victory is impossible.

If you believe you are permanently bound to your past, you will continue repeating old patterns.

If you think sin still owns you, you will live as though you have no other choice.

But salvation gives you a new identity.

Jesus did not merely forgive your sin and leave you unchanged. He brought you into right standing with God and gave you the freedom to pursue a new way of life.

You may still face temptation, but temptation is no longer your master.

You may still make mistakes, but failure is no longer your identity.

You may still experience spiritual battles, but you do not fight them alone.

The enemy wants to trap you between two lies. First, he tells you that you do not deserve salvation. Then, he tells you that you are incapable of living differently.

The truth is that none of us could earn salvation. That is why it is called grace. But the same grace that saves us also empowers us to follow Jesus.

Your identity must be rooted in what Christ has done—not in what you used to do.

Ask yourself:

🧠 What labels from my past am I still carrying?

⛓️ Where have I accepted bondage as though it were permanent?

📖 What does God’s Word say about who I am now?

🚶 What would change if I truly believed I was free to live righteously?

You cannot consistently live from an identity you refuse to accept.

Seeing yourself as God sees you is not pride. It is agreement with His Word. In Christ, you are forgiven, redeemed, restored and empowered to pursue righteousness.

This does not mean pretending you never struggle. It means refusing to allow the struggle to define you.

đź’ˇ When your thinking is renewed by Christ, your choices can begin to reflect your new identity.

🎙️ From the Sermon

Pastor Sonny encouraged believers to stop approaching life as though they remain helplessly bound to sin. Through Christ, we are placed in right standing with God and given the freedom to hunger and thirst for righteousness.

🙏 Prayer

Father, renew the way I see myself.

Help me release every label that does not agree with Your Word. Teach me to reject shame without excusing sin and to receive grace without taking it for granted.

Remind me that I belong to Jesus. Give me the strength to think, speak and live according to the new identity You have given me.

Amen.

✍️ Today’s Action

Write down three negative labels you have carried from your past.

Beside each one, write a truth from Scripture that reflects your identity in Christ.

Then complete these statements:

The old identity I am releasing is:

The truth I am choosing to believe is:

One decision I will make from my new identity is:
