Psalm 119:11 (KJV)

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

Some words are too meaningful to throw away.

💌 We save the letter that reminds us we are loved.

📖 We reread the message that encouraged us in a difficult season.

🧭 We return to words that help us remember who we are.

In the sermon, Pastor Sonny shared that he has kept the letters and cards Pastor Brittany has given him throughout their relationship. Those words have encouraged him, lifted him, brought perspective, and reminded him who he is to her.

He then pointed to an even greater collection of love letters: the Word of God.

The Bible reveals God’s heart, character, promises, correction, and plan for our lives. It encourages us when we are discouraged, disciplines us when we begin to wander, and reminds us who we are in Christ. It tells us what is true when our emotions, circumstances, and culture try to tell us something different.

The psalmist did not say that he merely read God’s Word. He said he hid it in his heart. That means he treasured it, remembered it, and allowed it to shape his choices.

There is a difference between having a Bible and carrying its truth within us.

We can own several Bibles and still be spiritually unprepared. We can highlight verses and still ignore their instruction. We can know what Scripture says without allowing it to correct the way we think, speak, and live.

God’s Word becomes powerful in our lives when we cherish it enough to apply it.

The truth of Scripture helps keep our eyes from wandering, our mouths from speaking carelessly, and our actions from crossing boundaries that could damage our relationship with Jesus. Even when the truth is uncomfortable, it is still loving. God does not correct us to reject us; He corrects us because He desires to keep us close.

Ask yourself:

💌 Do I receive the Bible as a personal expression of God’s love?

🧠 What voices have been shaping my thoughts more than Scripture?

🪞 Is there a truth I have read but resisted applying?

📖 What verse do I need to hide in my heart during this season?

God’s Word has remained true through every generation. Whether we cherish it or neglect it, His truth does not change. The question is not whether His Word will remain. The question is whether we will allow it to remain in us.

💡 When God’s Word is treasured in your heart, His truth becomes an anchor for your life.

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for giving me Your Word.

Forgive me for the times I have treated Scripture casually or allowed other voices to carry more influence than Your truth. Give me a deeper love for the Bible and a greater desire to understand and obey it.

Help me hide Your Word in my heart. Use it to correct my thoughts, guide my decisions, strengthen my faith, and keep me close to Jesus.
